dc.description.abstractDue to the increasing need for a fuel with less carbon emission has made the way to find the alternate fuel for engines. Biodiesel is a safe subsitute to the current fuel. Thermal barrier coating decreases the transfer of heat to the cooling system in idle conditions and it also protects engine components from induced high thermal stresses. This work deals with the exploration in blending of waste fish fry oil in a four stroke single cylinder DI diesel engine. In the present study, Waste fish fry oil (WFFO) is transesterified by using methanol with NaOH catalyst and then it is blended with petroleum diesel into three test fuels of WFFO10, WFFO20, WFFO30. These blended samples are initiated into the diesel engine and performance tests are carried out. The engine properties like Brake Specific Fuel Consumption (BSFC), Brake Thermal Efficiency (BTE) and emissions for an ordinary engine are quantified.
